Author´s
explanation:
The original portrait is transformed into a completely different
depiction following on from the legacy of cubism, which deconstructed
the subject, simplifying the figure into geometric structures and
recovering the rhythm of the futurists, fascinated by the speed of
increasingly faster cars…The fragmentation and multiplication of
the forms represent an obvious sign of avant-garde painting’s break
with artistic tradition.
This
portrait inherits and reinterprets all the steps taken since
the human eye began to perceive "other
realities" through the microscope, of a vehicle going at 200
Km/h, of artificially generated images in a computer, of an entire
technological revolution that began last century and proceeds at
an ever greater speed, increasingly more present and dominant in
modern society.
Whereas
the technique used by cubism was performed "avec
des petits cubes" (1), this work is performed "avec des
petits pixels", stemming from the tradition, without forgetting
it, albeit using new technologies as a source of expressive renewal.
